We know these are challenging times and we appreciate what parents are doing at home to support continual student learning. While we await a district decision regarding the end of the semester, our staff is preparing for continuous learning in online environments. Stay tuned for more information about how to help your child stay actively engaged in learning as we navigate together through the spring semester.
With a continual focus on Social-Emotional Learning (SEL), our advisory teachers will be reaching out to students throughout the upcoming week. In order to support each student at Austin High with technology and SEL needs, we ask each student to complete the following survey so we can better support them in online learning environments. Survey Link
ACC classes will resume on Monday, March 30 and UT OnRamps courses resume on Monday, April 6. We encourage all students to prepare for College and Career Readiness by preparing for the SAT. It’s never too early to review your skills and study for college admissions exams. The Khan Academy is an excellent free online tool. Click here for more information: https://www.khanacademy.org/sat
Starting next week, our teachers will provide flexible instruction through BLEND and host teacher office hours. Students should check throughout the upcoming week each teacher’s BLEND site to learn more and prepare for online learning starting April 6. We will also post departmental office hours on our main website later this week. In order to prepare for online learning environments, we ask each of our students to download Zoom. Zoom is an easy, user-friendly video conferencing tool that quickly syncs with desktop computers, Chrome books, laptops, iPhones, and Android devices. Students can download the Zoom app to their phones for quick and easy access. A link to Zoom can be found here: https://zoom.us/
For seniors, we know this is a difficult time for you. For now, prom and graduation are still scheduled. Please continue to monitor the AISD website, the Austin High website, and the Maroon Update for the latest information.
In closing, please know we care deeply about our students and families. We are all experiencing hardship during this pandemic and are trying to stay healthy. Remember to take care of yourself and each other by following recommendations for social distancing. Students, be sure to reach out to your counselor if you need support. We are available to help as we transition into flexible, online learning environments.
Please let me know if you have any questions. We are loyal forever and as hard as this situation has been, we will always be strong and proud Maroons.
COVID-19 precautions are resulting in many businesses and local restaurants being overwhelmed with the financial burden of sales coming to a screeching halt. Our small businesses and local restaurants need our support now more than ever.
The only way these businesses can survive is through sales of take out, curbside pick up and delivery. Please support the many restaurants offering 'family meal deals' and/or discounts through this crazy time.
The following restaurants have supported our PTSA over the years. Please call ahead to verify hours and menu.
House Park BBQ
Hyde Park Bar & Grill
Juliet Italian Kitchen
Lee’s Meat Market
Mighty Fine burgers
Pluckers wing Bar
Upper Crust Bakery

AHS College Signing Day
In past years, Tara Miller & Liz Ownby (AHS College/Career Center) have organized and served pizza to about 500+ seniors on their own but they could use some help! Please sign up to help them out at the link below!
Many Austin ISD students live in food insecure households and access to healthy food may be challenging when the district is closed. The Central Texas Food Bank provides resources to help ensure families are fed throughout the year, including during school breaks.
ACTION: Please share information about resources with your campus communities:
Highlights: Locations where families can access food assistance are included in the “Emergency Food Assistance Referral List." And, the March calendars provide information about the Food Bank’s mobile food pantries and Fresh Food for Families distribution locations.
Families may call 2-1-1 for information about additional food resources in Austin.
Questions? If you have any questions, please contact Anneliese Tanner, executive director of food services and warehouse operations, at email@example.com or 512-414-0228.

Class of 2021 Families
Senior year is quickly approaching! We need your help to make sure it’s the best year EVER for our kids. It takes roughly $50K to host Senior Breakfast, Prom, Baccalaureate and Project Graduation and we still need $20K to fund all these events. Thank you to everyone who has donated to the class Booster or pledged a yearly contribution that will help ensure all senior events are covered. If you have not yet contributed or missed a yearly contribution, there’s still time!
If you have questions concerning class Booster or how you can get involved next year, please email Brandy Reimers at email@example.com.
Congratulations to the boys soccer team on their end to the season last night. The boys are projected to end tied in 4th place but unfortunately, a tie-breaker leaves out of the playoffs. Varsity boys ended the season with a three-game winning streak with victories over Anderson, Bowie, and Akins. In an emotional game last night, the boys beat Akins 4-1 with three goals by Nick Barcinski and one by Ronaldo Garcia. Assists were provided by Ronaldo, Henry Mitchell, and two by Charlie Franklin.
